It has been a year since my last confession. I have to admit that we blondes are not very computer savvy and if it weren’t for our friend G we’d not even have this beautiful site. My new year’s resolution that I’m going to start early is that I’m going to try to keep this site information updated! I don’t know why it’s so hard for us but I’m going to do it. We’ve got a facebook group – come and join – but I think that’s Monica’s domain so I’m going to single handedly take over this website….me and G that is.

So what’s been going on? We had an interesting winter. Monica was doing the Overcoat (amazing, we are so proud of her!) and I was having another baby (amazing – I’m so proud of me! Hee) Jen took off to do some other dancing that carried her around the world (something a blonde budget doesn’t allow right now) so we were down to two lonely blondes, lonely but beautiful and spectacular. So while I was a million months pregnant I choreographed a duet on mini trampolines for the incredible Nicole (Rushie) and Michelle (Deeb) (*Monica and I are both Rube and Jen is JJ*). So anyway, they premiered this duet wearing skating costumes and bathing caps at Dundas Square for the international dance day celebrations. They were so hip and very outstanding!!! They did it again in Guelph – where they were joined by Sabrina and Heather who jumped in for me and Rube to perform Binder Twine. It was all of course a big hit and loads of fun for the ladies.

Deeb and Rushie also performed the duet version of STRUM at a cabaret at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre. There is only one word to express the madness of this. HILARIOUS! This duet version hasn’t been performed since Steph (tall lady down) and I choreographed it a million years ago. Flipping beef with your toes is always a big hit with any crowd.

Back in the saddle in September Rube and I joined Rushie and Deeb for an excellent run at the Factory Theatre’s LAB CAB festival. So much fun, I hope they ask us back it’s a wicked weekend of performing. That’s also where we met Rosa (no nickname yet but we can feel one coming on) who wildly approached us and begged us to put her in a piece!!! How bold. How fun. She’s an amazing actress and a playwright plus she is totally cute, though not blonde but we said YES anyway. So for the last few weeks she’s been in serious training as we get the quintet version of the TRAMP CHAMPS up and running for our Cunning Array of Stunts party on November 10th. She’s been working her trampoline I tell ya. We’ve all been working our pelvic floors really hard; which is what you need to be able to jump on a trampoline and not pee your pants apparently. It’s been pretty fun I tell ya!

So anyway, all of this to say we’ve been kinda busy with being blonde and all the antics and planning and performing on top of running dance schools, managing Fresh restaurants, maintaining acting careers, being moms, owning Pilates studios and keeping our little families happy and healthy somehow keeping this website updated has slipped our minds….BUT NO MORE I PROMISE! I give you my word!!! (oh God, I’m scared that I’ll fail at this….but please know that I’m going try REALLY HARD!)

Please come out to our party on NOVEMBER 10TH and cheer Rosa on, she’s nervous about her big debut with the company. We are complete nut jobs in our skating outfits. The very beautiful Sabrina will be performing in her silks again and we’ve got some other surprise guests and loads of fun planned. Our silent auction has something for everyone…we were kinda surprised that our Leafs tickets were the hot item last year but we are prepared this year in case a brawl breaks out. The drinks are cheap and the music is wicked.

E-mail me for tickets at sunny@companyblonde.com

Come. We’d LOVE to see you.

This is a little long for a blog I know but it’s been a year. Believe me when I say the ones to follow will be short!

This fall we at Company Blonde have been partying up a storm! We had an intimate dance party in September where we danced and drank and had a fabulous time!! It wasn’t even just the five of us; we were surrounded by all these really cool people who contributed not only to the brilliance on the dance floor but to our company bank account!!! Thank you to you wonderful blonde lovers!!!!

We took October to recover and now we are gearing up for our second ever Masquerade Ball which is going to be outrageous! Back in 2001 we hosted our first Masquerade Ball and it was a smashing success – the best party ever. We held off having another one because we thought we couldn’t ever match the supreme greatness of that first one but alas we are digging out the masks and costumes and putting on our hosting shoes again. This one is going to be bigger and better than ever, we have circus performers, Tarot readers, Psychics, Prizes, Games, a killer Silent Auction, meat and other craziness. DJ Todd is at it again for us – he’s amazing we are so lucky he’s such an enthusiastic DJ blonde! This fall has really been about taking a little time to raise some money and have some fun before we get down to business this winter creating two new works of our own and gathering together the funds to continue working with the fantastic Susie Burpee and the incredible Julia Aplin. We have big, big plans for OH SEVEN, it’s going to be another crazy year for the blondes so be sure to stay tuned.

Come out to the Masquerade Ball and support your favourite Blondes!!! We will not disappoint – you will have such a great time! Dress up and party anonymously with some really amazing people, have your Tarot cards read or visit the physic and see what the future holds for you! It will be so much fun you’ll want every Friday night to be Masquerade night with the blondes!

See you there!!!

Summer is finally upon us and the blondes are enjoying some summer fun with family and friends. We had a lot of fun in Guelph at the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival which is one of our favourite places to perform. Thanks to all of you who came out to support the festival!

After three weeks off in July we will be coming together again in the studio with the amazing Susie Burpee who will begin her process of creating a new piece on the company. We are so looking forward to working with Susie; we’ve been aching to for a long time! Undoubtedly it will be great fun and an incredible challenge for us and we are sure the outcome will be something fabulous.

August 1-7th brings us to Deep River, Ontario for Dusk Dances. We have never performed there before and are really looking forward to the journey north. We are bringing our western piece Binder Twine so hopefully the audience up there will enjoy it as much as our home audience has! Michelle will be hosting the event witch will be so great, she is going to be a hilarious host I’d say it would be worth the drive up there just to see her in action herding the massive crowd from dance to dance. I will be offering two workshops in the park and possibly creating a little park piece with the people who come out, it should be very interesting and lots of fun….I really hope we have good weather!

So have a wonderful summer splashing around in our beautiful Ontario lakes and laughing with friends and enjoying delicious food cooked outside. Summer is short so make sure to take the time to soak it all in.

We’ll see you in the fall with some spectacular fundraising events and cabarets!!!!!!!!!

March is upon us, and the Blondes are hard at work rehearsing for our upcoming performance in none other than Sudbury, ON! On March 24th, we will be re-mounting an old favourite, Tilting Pretty, as well as our more recent Binder Twine as part of the 15th Anniversary performance of Earthdancers. Earthdancers is a student run company that was co-founded by our very own Sunshine Horvath. They hold annual benefit performances for various environmental organizations, including Friends of the Earth. We are thrilled to be a part of such an awesome night of dance!

Thanks to those of you who came out to Nathan Phillips Square for our WinterCity performances. Saturday - What a beautiful day for dancing outside, although I don’t think that the ice sculptures were too happy considering the plus degree temperatures! Sunday – If you came all the way to see us in the pouring rain, we are forever grateful, but alas, we did not perform. Overall, it was a great experience being part of such a vibrant festival, and we enjoyed meeting anyone who dared to approach us after seeing us in our crazy costumes and witnessing our wild ways! Keep checking back for our upcoming performances in and around the city!

It's oh-six in t-o. The first day of the new year seems, so far, to be grey and cold. But out of the damp, white expanse of winter, somewhere off in the distance, can be seen not 3, not 4, but is that 5...yes 5 figures. And these figures are not clad in the traditional winter get-up that can be seen around town. There is not a hint of black, grey or even an adventurous shade of beige in the bunch. Instead, as they get closer and closer, it becomes apparent that they are 5 figures EXPLODING towards you in suits, FULL-PIECE SUITS, of blinding yellow, grape smelly marker purple, sickenly sweet cotton candy pink, and two sporting bold blue with orange trim. And as these characters both mesmerize and bewilder onlookers with their flashy ways, each with their unique mannerisms, it is without a doubt that they belong together. Because beneath the crazy costumes and penetrating eyes of theirs, a truth rings out through the bleak winter wind...these creatures, these blindingly bold and wildly lovely ladies, are none other than COMPANY BLONDE!!!

Happy New Year everyone! The Blondes are looking forward to taking 2006 by storm! It has been a busy fall and winter so far, (especially with the arrival of baby Stella Horvath, the tiniest, newest addition to the Blonde family), and we are excited about what is shaping up to be a great new year. We're ringing in 2006 with 2 days of performances for WinterCity festival at Nathan Phillip's Square on January 28 and 29th. We have an all Blonde performance planned for the end of May, and you can catch us in June at the Guelph Contemporary Dance Festival. Keep an eye on our website for updates of performance times and locations throughout the year!
